Working on a potter's wheel, Katharina Link creates hand-thrown ceramic pieces and often adds layered disks as in the drum-like vessels. With tones derived from manganese, each piece is etched and surfaces decorated with slip glazing, then kiln fired at 1100 C. Her clear form, thin fragments, and poetic graphics give each spherical vessel, basin, or cylinder object its own unique character.
After studying voice, music, and theater, Katharina turned her creative interest to ceramics. She trained in Meiningen and Berlin from 1998 to 2002 before launching her career as an independent fine art ceramicist. Her workshop is in Berlin, Germany, where she lives with her daughter.
